About the project

Meaningful discussion

Engaging in meaningful discussions an essential component of the AmCAD developmental path. While discussions are encouraged to take place throughout the course of the project, this third part of the project is meant to summarize the participant’s learning experience by sharing it with others. Learners are encouraged to engage in a thoughtful, reflective conversation that deepen understanding and connect historical patterns to present‑day experiences. These dialogues foster clarity, empathy, and shared insight, helping learners integrate cultural awareness into their daily lives.

Bonus

While participating in the American Cultural Awareness Project, remember that there is more to see beyond the surface! There is a hidden treasure in this project, something that has been hidden in plain sight for centuries that truly highlights cultural awareness. If you discover it, or if you would like a hint, please send us a message.

Output

There are 3 parts to this project: Presentation Notes, Volunteering Service, and Meaningful Discussion.

notes make up the project

The Presentation Notes part is essentially notes that the learner takes during the project. The natural result of the learner’s notes is a written or oral report that learners are gently guided to achieve throughout the journey through the project, even if the learner is not used to presenting research in a report format.

Written reports may be a minimum 10-page essay double-spaced and maximum font size 12, covering all the points in the American Cultural Awareness Project in a flowing manner that details what was learned, including a personal reflection on how understanding on the topic has developed and how the past affects the present.

Oral reports may be in an audio or video format.

Presentations may be submitted to info@culturalawarenessproject.com or sent via the lesson submission forms in each module. Participants will have the option to have their submitted form responses placed into a long report draft format.

References must be in IEEE style and include links to your research where available.

We encourage review and discussion while taking your notes, and we are here to provide guidance in any part of the project.

volunteer service

The second part of the AmCAD project is volunteering service hours to a specific type of organization outlined in the project.

Service is where cultural awareness becomes action. As learners complete the Presentation Notes part of the project, they are encouraged to participate in at least two acts of service that demonstrates what they have learned and reflects care for their community.

Even simple acts, such as supporting a local initiative or contributing time to a community space, reinforce the values explored in the lessons. Service helps learners practice awareness in real‑world settings and strengthens the connection between understanding the past and contributing to a better present.
